Lawyers continue cease-work stir, HC Bench

The demand for establishment of a permanent Bench of Orissa High Court in western Odisha mounted again with Lawyers of Sambalpur district continuing cease-work agitation on Wednesday.

Lawyers under the banner of Nagarika Kriyanusthana Committee (Citizens’ Action Committee) are now sitting on a Dharana in the court premised. They, however, decided not to stop judges from entering courts and doing duty this time.

“We regard Supreme Court direction. We will fully cooperate in court works. But we will not move away from our demand for establishment of a permanent Bench of the Orissa High Court in Sambalpur,” said lawyers.

Sambalpur Lawyers’ Association president Sureshwar Mishra said the association will not obstruct judges during agitation henceforth.
