Members of Bargarh District Bar Association locked the District Consumer Redressal Forum for its failure to deliver justice, on the occasion of the World Consumer Day, on Thursday.
As per the provision, a Consumer Court comprises two members, one among them being a woman, besides the President. Although the President has been nominated and there is a woman member, the post of the second member is lying vacant. Under the circumstances, consumer cases are not entertained here.
The Bar had petitioned the State Government and the Minister for Consumer Affairs besides authorities concerned on the issue. The effort has gone waste.
It was on Wednesday, the members resolved to lock the Consumer Court till the other member is appointed.

The Dist. Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum, Bargarh has since been locked due to nonfulfillment of genuine demand raised by the Dist. Bar Association, Bargarh. The demand are i) Removal of Present President & posted another President having out of district in its place and ii) Immediate posting of a male member in the forum.
The reason for demanding removal of President is that all the judgement passed till date by him are beyond the provision of law and infrauctitous for which the litigant consumers are became harrassed as the order so passed are neither appealable not it has any force to comply.
Though the matter has been put forth before the concerned higher authority & the govt. for several no step has yet been taken from their end for smooth and proper function of the forum.
This may be taken as serious or else time will come the general public at large of Bargarh District will be bound to take agitational step against the concerned authorities.
