Snake helps girl to escape molestation
A 21-year-old student of Sambalpur University — had a miraculous escape from two anti-socials who abducted her on Tuesday evening from the university campus and attempted to outrage her modesty.
According to sources, two anti-socials kidnapped the student while she was returning to her hostel in the evening after meeting her friend in another hostel on the campus. The culprits took the girl to a nearby forest and started misbehaving with her.
As the girl was fighting to escape from the clutches of the perpetrators, a cobra hiding in a nearby termite hive rushed towards to the scene. When the culprits saw the snake, they freed the girl and fled the spot.
After returning to her hostel, the girl reported the matter to university authorities who then filed a police complaint. As the news kidnap and molestation attempt reached the boys’ hostels, the inmates blockaded the Bargarh-Sambalpur road demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
They withdrew their agitation only after the senior police officials visited the campus and assured them to nab the culprits soon.
“We have lodged a complaint with the police and hope the culprits involved in the crime would arrested soon,” B.C. Barik, vice chancellor of the university said.
He added that the state government would be requested to properly equip the police outpost on the campus so as to avoid such unpleasant incidents in the future.
